Our Commitment
VAssess strives to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards. We are continuously working to improve the accessibility of our platform and welcome feedback from our users.
As an educational platform serving students across India, we recognize the importance of making our assessment tools usable by everyone, including persons with disabilities as outlined in the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.

Keyboard Navigation
- All interactive elements are keyboard accessible
- Tab navigation through forms and menus
- Enter/Space to activate buttons and links
- Escape to close dialogs and modals
- Ctrl+M shortcut for LaTeX formula input
Visual Design
- High contrast color scheme (WCAG AA compliant)
- Clear visual hierarchy with consistent styling
- Focus indicators on all interactive elements
- Color is not the sole means of conveying information
- Icons paired with text labels where possible
Text & Content
- Scalable text that respects browser zoom settings
- Readable font sizes (minimum 14px body text)
- Clear heading hierarchy (h1 through h6)
- Descriptive link text (not "click here")
- Alt text for informational images
Interactive Elements

Component Accessibility
Our UI components are built on Radix UI primitives, which provide:
- •Dialogs & Modals: Focus trapping, escape to close, aria-labelledby, return focus on close
- •Dropdowns & Select: Arrow key navigation, type-ahead search, proper ARIA roles
- •Tabs: Arrow key navigation between tabs, proper tabpanel association
- •Tooltips: Keyboard focusable triggers, screen reader announcements
- •Accordion: Enter/Space to toggle, proper expanded/collapsed state
- •Toast Notifications: role="alert" for screen reader announcements
Known Limitations
We are aware of the following accessibility limitations and are working to address them:
- Charts:Recharts visualizations may not be fully accessible to screen readers. We provide data tables as alternatives where possible.
- LaTeX:Mathematical formulas rendered via KaTeX may have limited screen reader support. The source LaTeX text is available as an alternative.
- PDF Reports:Generated PDF reports may not meet full PDF/UA accessibility standards.
- Proctoring:Fullscreen mode during proctored tests may interfere with some assistive technology tools. Students requiring accommodations should contact their institution administrator.
